Welcome

The Baker International Program is dedicated to providing affordable opportunities for Baker School District students to travel and study internationally. Academic research (Stone, Petric 2013) shows that students who have had such experiences find success in several key developmental areas both during and after high school, including improved grades, college acceptance, graduation rates, interview skills, and future employment!

Upcoming Opportunities

Vietnam (Spring Break 2025)

This trip is currently full. We are exploring the possibility of a similar trip to Thailand for Spring Break 2026!
Please check out this slideshow to see what is planned for our trip to Vietnam during Spring Break 2025.

France (Summer 2025)
Baker Boys Baseball Players

We have an invitation from the Rouen Huskies Baseball Club in France to do a 4-week exchange with them. Their D2 team is the equivalent of our JV/Varsity, and Baker athletes will compete quite well on that level. If you are age 16-18 and interested in hosting a French baseball player and/or living in France for a month this summer to learn about their culture AND to play baseball, please contact Dr. Joseph for more information.

Hamburg, Germany (Fall 2025)
We have renewed our partnership for a 4-week exchange next Fall with Phorms Gymnasium, an English/German Bilingual School in beautiful Hamburg, Germany. Baker students will visit Hamburg from mid-September to mid-October, and Phorms will visit Baker City from mid-October to mid-November. We are seeking interested students ages 16-18 whose grades are in good standing, who are on pace to graduate, and who want the international educational experience of a lifetime. Please contact Dr. Joseph for more information if interested in traveling and/or hosting.

Madrid, Spain (2026)
Stay tuned for more information as this trip is developed!

Ecuador/Galapagos (2026)
Stay tuned for more information as this trip is developed!

We need host families!
As one might imagine, we cannot offer these experiences for our students without the support and priceless commitment of host families willing to receive students from our sister-schools and partners. Our exchanges will be just 4 weeks long, including arrival and departure travel. Opportunities to host for next year include mid-May thru mid-June for our French exchange and mid-October thru mid-November for our Hamburg exchange. If you are interested in hosting or have questions about the host family experience, please contact Dr. Joseph.
